Patient-Expert Interview Day #1: Memphis, TN
At the heart of the Good Medicine Project are the personal stories of social support shared by breast cancer patients and survivors. After all, the inspiration for the Project came from the questions of friends and family members who recently learned of a loved one with a breast cancer diagnosis and wanted to help!
On October 23, 2024, Good Medicine Project interviewed four patient-survivors in Memphis, Tennessee. This was the first shoot day of several around the country, and it could not have gone better! We interviewed four women. Our first question is always, “How did you learn that you had breast cancer?”
The Crew
Our small-but-mighty production crew consisted of kind and skilled local professionals who went above and beyond to make our interview subjects confident and relaxed. The event was led by cinematographer Stef Allan, director of photography for the Memphis Grizzlies and his own productions. Brandon Robertson recorded sound and did a million things to put the interview subjects (and the director!) at ease.
Faizah Husniyah did stunning makeup and hair. She made each interview subject feel and look her best on camera. When Rachel, the youngest interview subject, left the studio, she looked at herself in the mirror and said, “I can’t waste this! I’m calling my husband and we’re going out to lunch!”
Faizah Husniyah (makeup artist), Stef Allan (cinematographer), Marion (Interviewee), Brandon Robertson (sound recordist), Susan Giacomini (producer/director).
